ARTIST PROFILE

NINA POULTON

I have always had a keen interest, passion and love of painting which started at an early age and continues to this present day. I grew up in Canberra, however a desire for travel took me to many parts of Australia and overseas which fuelled my love for vibrant & strong colours, diversity and subject matter. Always seeking new avenues of expression and medium I have attended numerous workshops to continue my artistic development.   I am now located in Batemans Bay after living in Maroubra, Sydney for over 25 years.

Individually I have not limited myself to a particular style or colour with each work reflecting the moment or the mood. My subjects are diverse and can range from traditional to contemporary/abstract and can display a quirky or naïve nature. As I enjoy an artistic challenge I like to work in a range of mediums which include oil, pastel, watercolour, inks, acrylic and pencil/pen & ink.

I am a member of the Batemans Bay Arts & Crafts Society, South Coast Pastel Society and Queanbeyan Art Society. Whilst I do not hold a formal fine arts degree and am basically self-taught, my original Sydney tutor Fred Jones honed my oil skills. I have attended Master Pastelist Grace Paleg’s pastel group and Adrienne Conway’s watercolour group along with fortnightly life drawing and paint in sessions. By attending a range of workshop, tutored by not only international artists, Margaret Evans & Stan Sperlak, and respected Australian artists Janet Hayes, Jenni Kelly, Ray Barnett, Eric Strachan, Val Fitzpatrick, Raelene Sharp, Herman Peckel, Paul Margosy, Naida O’Laughlin, Sheryl Miller, Wilma Southon, Patricia Reust, Tracey Creighton & Chris Blake, my repertoire of knowledge has increased in all media as I continue to strive for excellence.

I have had solo & group exhibition since 2011 as feature artist of the month at the Olive Tree and my works can also be found in local businesses within the Batemans Bay area. I have assisted Ovarian Cancer, Bowel Cancer and Animal Welfare with donated art works for fundraising. I have been fortunate to have many works hang in homes in USA, Canada, Germany, Lithuania, Malaysia and throughout Australia and I am represented on the South Coast Pastel Society’s website and facebook pages as well as on my own facebook site and google.
